A friend and fellow blogger Siiri Sampson had a few makeup questions that she needed answered!! I’m always there for my girls, so without further adieu, here’s DIHLOMT’s very first makeup Q&A!!!
Question: How often should I clean my makeup brushes? is Johnson’s baby shampoo good for cleaning them?
Answer: Brushes used for powder should be cleaned weekly with a mild shampoo or cleanser. Brushes used for liquids and creams should be cleaned daily. Johnson & Johnson’s baby shampoo is excellent for cleaning some of your brushes, but those brushes that come in contact with oil based products need to be cleaned with products that can break down emollient. Celeb makeup artist Sam Fine always cleans his brushes with Dawn dish detergent –it cuts grease. Go figure!!
Quick tip: Allowing your brushes to dry with hairs facing down prevents moisture from loosening the glue in the ferrule. This way your brushes will shed less.
If you have any beauty questions of your own feel free to drop me a line, and I’ll have answers for you every Wednesday!!!
