Last week I received a couple of really great questions for
WHATCHAWANNAKNOW WEDNESDAY!!
Paula, wrote in and asked:
Question: If you were to buy one (just one) concealer for under eye coverage and blemishes, which one would you go for?
Answer: That’s a really tough question!!! I honestly can’t answer that question without asking a few of my own!!! What is the skin’s condition (is it oily, dry, wrinkled or smooth)? What is the skins natural undertone? What color are the dark circles and blemishes that are being covered (blue, purple, grey or red)? What’s your current makeup routine?
The answers to all of those questions would determine which concealer I would recommend. I’m not brand specific, there are several concealers out there that work beautifully. I personally have at least three concealers in rotation!! I know, you’re probably not a makeup junkie like me, and three concealers might be a little excessive so here are a few guidelines to help you pick your perfect concealer!!
If your dark circles are blue then yellow based concealers will work great
For brown blemishes use a “warmer” toned concealer
If the skin is wrinkled, try a drier formula concealer that won’t
settle into the wrinkles, but apply with a wet sponge so that it doesn’t look cakey.
If the under eye area needs moisture, try a concealer that has more emollient
Sometimes more is less (If you buy a concealer with morecoverage
you can get away with using a lot less!!
Don’t forget to prep your skin with a great moisturizer!!
